As I took my <a href="http://ift.tt/1EsNiR9" title="Oh No, I Planted a Church!">pastoral calling</a> to the next level by planting <a href="http://ift.tt/1pKQkZe" target="_blank">Manifestation Christian Center</a>, I realized that I was also going to draw deep scrutiny.</p><br /><p><em>(Looming thought in the back of my mind: “Hurry up and lose weight; nobody is inspired by a fat leader.”)</em> </p><br /><p>Part of the Manifestation <a href="http://ift.tt/1EsNiRd" target="_blank">philosophy and vision</a> includes holistic health and transformation through the development of one’s spirit, soul, mind and BODY. Physical health was very scary for me because I have lived the majority off my adult life overweight for a number of reasons.</p><br /><p>Well… I have been working hard… And with the help of the Lord… And I am so happy to report the manifestation of God’s power in my life… Since our ACTIVATE service in August <span style='color: #666699;'><strong>I have lost over 25 lbs. and counting</strong> </span>.</p><br /><p><a href="http://ift.tt/YF2RSs" target="_blank" title="A Path of PURPOSE Not Pleasure">Church planting</a> and ministry is very stressful at times on me and family. God was very clear that I needed to be in good health on all levels. I have never lost weight before and I have tried it all. <strong><span style='color: #666699;'>God has truly intervened for His glory and I give all praise to Him</span>.</strong> </p><br /><p>Now I have more energy and, seemingly, more time. <strong><span style='color: #666699;'>I devote that time to communion with Him and fellowship with my family</span>.</strong> </p><br /><blockquote><br /><p>The New Year is infamous for resolutions that don’t last. Don’t do this to yourself! Live your entire life with PURPOSE. The only thing you will have to remember past midnight on the 31st is to write “15” instead of “14”. This was a great wedding. Everything was so beautiful. How do you know the couple? (Start on a positive note.)<br/><br /><strong>Metaphor</strong> – Weddings are like roller coasters; you never want it to end. (Careful with this one, it could come of corny. It doesn’t have to make sense, just make it cute.)<br/><br /><strong>Story</strong> – What a great wedding? It reminds me of a recent wedding I saw at my church. They are a great couple too. I love to see how God continues to put amazing people together. (Don’t make it too long, serious or involved. Just get the ball rolling.)</p><br /><p>This method is not full proof, but it will help. Do You Value (Fill in the Blank)?

In the end, all any of us could ever hope for is to make a decision that ultimate leads to success and not utter demise.</p><br /><p>This week my wife, Latrese, and I have been talking about values. Values are important because they help align your priorities in life. Honestly, once you know your values, decision-making is easier.</p><br /><p>Here is the challenge… Although many of us claim to be Christian, few of us actually live our lives according to biblical values. For instance:</p><br /><p><strong>Do you value money?</strong> Hebrews 13:5 says, “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”” A life of content means completely relying on Him for all provision. When times get tough, don’t make desperate decisions for money. <strong>Remember that God is with you and won’t leave you high and dry.</strong> </p><br /><p><strong>Do you value justice?</strong> Romans 12:19 says, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”” In world filled with injustice at every turn, are we truly able to refrain from taking matters into our own hands. <strong>Do we “allow” God to do His mighty balancing work</strong> or does anger move us to take His place?</p><br /><p><strong>Our values drive our decisions.</strong> That is why they must be properly rooted in the Word or we are likely to make less than Christ-like choices.</p><br /><p>This week, take some time in thought contemplating your values. Then surrender those values to control by the Holy Spirit. <strong>Ask Him to guide you along LIFE’s journey.</strong> </p><br /><p>Value this article? Musicians Serve Deeper

I have served churches for decades… so I thought. Honestly, I have never really truly known service until I have now when as I where to mantle of shepherd.</p><br /><p>Don’t get me wrong; I don’t say that to insult or diminish the importance or major work that my brother and sister minstrels put in week after week. But I do want to charge you to look beyond the keys and cymbals to how you can possibly <strong>serve the church on a deeper level.</strong> </p><br /><p>The main thing to remember is that no matter if you are playing the tambourine or leading praise and worship <strong>you are a minister</strong>. To minister means to serve. <strong>In service you have to put your agenda on the back burner.</strong> </p><br /><p><strong>Musicianship is a position of submission.</strong> There is usually a leader to follow who prayerfully is following the lead of the Holy Spirit. Serve by full submission. Give yourself fully to the vision of the church and leading of the pastor and whomever is in charge.</p><br /><p><strong>Music is about harmony.</strong> Harmony is created through the use of simultaneous pitches, tones, notes and chords. Everything must work together for the greater good.</p><br /><p><strong>Musicians are important.</strong> We need you. Looking for “The One”

But more and more I realize that it’s not about <em>finding</em> “the one” but BEING “the one”.</p><br /><p>As I always say, before you walk down the aisle to say “I do,” be sure you know who “I” is. Know yourself. The more you know yourself, the more likely the man or woman you find will love you for who you are.</p><br /><p><strong>My advice: Singles, in your pursuit for a husband or wife focus less on developing a long list of qualifications for him or her and concentrate on the qualities which will make you a truly significant other.</strong> </p><br /><p>Here are five substantial ways to <strong>BE “THE ONE”</strong>:<br/><br /><a href="http://ift.tt/1x2AkFp"><img alt="be open - Looking for “The One” - Pastor Terrell L http://ift.tt/1AxaMgG" class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-735" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1s2ulII"/> </a>1. <strong>Be open.</strong> Don’t be so rigid in your views and opinions that you block opportunities for growth.</p><br /><p>2. <strong>Be vulnerable.</strong> We all have been hurt. Create purpose from your pain. Don’t be afraid to gift trust and try it again.</p><br /><p>3. <strong>Do the work.</strong> Relationships can be fun but they also take hard work. Be willing to negotiation. Develop your <a class="zem_slink" href="http://ift.tt/SQQxYo" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Communication">communication skills</a>. Let go of the past. Invest in yourself every day.</p><br /><p>4. <strong>Get out there.</strong> Be findable. Destiny is not gonna come knocking down your door. Shake off the shyness and step it up.</p><br /><p>5. <strong>Know yourself.</strong> Marriage is merging of values. <div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div class='pdfprnt-top-right'><a href="http://ift.tt/1wLsSMY" target="_blank"><img alt="image_pdf" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1AxaMgC" title="View PDF"/> </a><a href="http://ift.tt/1xGsE8i" target="_blank"><img alt="image_print" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1AxaLZW" title="Print Content"/> </a> </div><br /><h3>What really makes someone attractive?</h3><br /><p>Is it a symmetric face?<br/><br />Light eyes?<br/><br />“Good” hair?<br/><br />A nice body?</p><br /><p>How about a humor, personality, intellect, sanctification?<br/><br />What really makes someone attractive?<br/><br />What is the magnetism that some seek to have that makes people want to be around them?</p><br /><p>Is it an infectious smile?<br/><br />Overwhelming happiness?<br/><br />Glowing joy?<br/><br />An unbreakable spirit?</p><br /><h3>The true essence of attractiveness is LOVE. Love attracts.</h3><br /><p><strong>In John 10:11, Jesus proclaims Himself as the “<a class="zem_slink" href="http://ift.tt/1aNx1aV" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Good Shepherd">Good Shepherd</a>.”</strong> This word, “good,” means: beautiful, handsome, excellent, stands out, precious, useful, commendable, and admirable.</p><br /><p>These are words that are often related to the idea of an attractive person. But Christ is not bragging on His dashing looks or Holy swag. He’s simply saying he is the best choice.</p><br /><p>“Good” in the Greek also means “better.” <strong>Jesus says, “I am the Better Shepherd”. Let me tell you why…</strong> </p><br /><p>I am better because I love you. I love you so much, I’d die for you.<br/><br />John 10:11b “The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.”<br/><br /><strong>In other words, a GOOD shepherd LOVE his sheep unto death.</strong> </p><br /><p>What do we learn from Jesus about being attractive? I Don’t Care What You Think of Me

Actually, from time to time, all of us do. A big one that we often battle is the fear of how others perceive us.</p><br /><p><strong>Most people say, “I don’t care what people think of me.”</strong> When I hear someone say that, I quietly assume in my mind that they really mean just the opposite. The truth is… feeling like you are being judged doesn’t feel good.</p><br /><p>You can fight the feeling. You sincerely can refrain from concern about what another thinks about the way you live. I fight (and win) this battle daily. Here are a few ways to beat this beast:</p><br /><ol><br /><li>Don’t compare yourself to others.</li><br /><li>Don’t allow another person’s opinion debilitate you.</li><br /><li>Don’t be easily offended.</li><br /><li>Accept who you are.</li><br /><li>Realize EVERYONE has strengths AND weaknesses.</li><br /><li>Focus on the positive.</li><br /><li>Build character.</li><br /><li>Maintain your strengths and strengthen your weaknesses.</li><br /><li>Recognize your special gifts and talents.</li><br /><li>Balance your pride (be proud of yourself, but don’t get the big head).</li><br /><li>Set goals and plans for your self-improvement.</li><br /><li>Be patient.</li><br /></ol><br /><p><strong>Sidenote:</strong> While you are working to build your security, don’t tear down another’s. Make sure you are not judging others. Furthermore, don’t be too harsh or judgmental with yourself. Do Everything As Unto the Lord

In <a class="zem_slink" href="http://ift.tt/1eGHJLY" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Abundant life">John 10:10</a>, Jesus exposes the devil’s strategy to steal, kill and destroy. His ultimate goal is death.</p><br /><p>Today, <strong>Jesus is present to give us an alternative.</strong> We don’t have to choose death – <strong>we can choose life.</strong> And not just existing but having an <strong>abundance of life</strong>.</p><br /><p>If we are distracted, our focus is off God.<br/><br />If we are distant, we are disconnected from God.<br/><br />If we are desperate, we are impatient while waiting on God<br/><br />As a result, we put ourselves in a position of vulnerability to be attacked by the devil.</p><br /><p>Therefore, <strong>EVERY DAY</strong> you must consciously <strong>focus on God, connect with God and wait on God</strong>. This can easily be accomplished…</p><br /><h2>Do everything as unto the Lord!</h2><br /><p>• Parent as if you were the father of baby Jesus<br/><br />• Work as if Jesus were the CEO of your company<br/><br />• Eat and exercise as if Jesus were your doctor<br/><br />• Respect your husband as if you were married to Jesus<br/><br />• Be a friend as if Jesus were your BFF<br/><br />• Drive as if Jesus is in the passenger seat</p><br /><h4>Every day, in every way focus on God, connect with God and wait on God. How NOT to Be Still…

<div xmlns='http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'><div class='pdfprnt-top-right'><a href="http://ift.tt/1wdPffa" target="_blank"><img alt="image_pdf" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1AxaMgC" title="View PDF"/> </a><a href="http://ift.tt/1wdPffe" target="_blank"><img alt="image_print" data-recalc-dims="1" src="http://ift.tt/1AxaLZW" title="Print Content"/> </a> </div><br /><p>Most of us are familiar with the first part of <a class="zem_slink" href="http://ift.tt/V85QiY" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Psalms">Psalm</a> 46:10 which says…</p><br /><h4 style='text-align: center;'>“Be still and know that I am God.”</h4><br /><p>But do we actually apply this command?<br/><br />When calamity comes or chaos climaxes do you truly remain calm and totally trust in God?<br/><br />Can you let go of your concerns fully to realize the availability and capability of our Supreme Being?</p><br /><p>No we don’t. Not always or in all ways. <span style='text-decoration: underline;'>But we should.</span> </p><br /><p>As you mature in your faith and relationship with God, you should come into a feeling of perfect security in Him. This is the process of living in ultimate PEACE.</p><br /><p><strong>To “be still” requires</strong> more than physical motionless and verbal quietness, but life-transforming trust. Trust that the world will keep turning even if you take a break from spinning it. Oh, wait, you don’t spin the world – God does.</p><br /><blockquote><br /><p>Habakkuk 2:20 But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.</p><br /></blockquote><br /><p><strong>To “be still” requires</strong> peaceful prayer and silent submission that will wisp you into worship.</p><br /><p><strong>To “be still” requires</strong> sureness in the Sovereign One.</p><br /><blockquote><br /><p><a class="zem_slink" href="http://ift.tt/1AxaM00" rel="wikipedia" target="_blank" title="Book of Zechariah">Zechariah</a> 2:13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out</p><br /></blockquote><br /><p><strong>To “be still” requires</strong> a comfort because God is for you, therefore no one can be against you.</p><br /><p><em>Let’s be clear…</em><br/><br /><strong>To “be still” is NOT</strong> being a stone, stupid, apathetic or unconcerned at the commotion plaguing your psyche.</p><br /><p><strong>To “be still” is NOT</strong> appearing to be unaffected while your heart and soul slowly homepages.</p><br /><p><strong>To “be still” is NOT</strong> being inactive and paralyzed by fear and fretful.</p><br /><p>Don’t be impatient or restless, but be quiet and easy while resigned to the will of God.</p><br /><p>Don’t believe the lies of the enemy.
